ICMR approves kit for 10 million tests in a week

The Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has approved the first Indian-made test kit for the corona virus test. Pune-based firm Mylab has been given the responsibility. Mylab has promised to produce 1 lakh kits in a week. The company claims that 100 patients can be tested with one kit.

Pune-based company Mylab has developed an indigenous kit in 6 weeks. Through this lab, 1 lakh kits can be manufactured every week. The kit that Mylab will manufacture will cost one fourth of the kit coming from abroad. It is being told that 100 patients can be tested with each kit. Mylab Pathodetect Kovid-19 Qualitative PCR Kit is the first kit that has been commercially approved.

This kit has been approved by the Indian FDA / Central Drug Standards Control Organization (CDSCO). In addition, MyLab is the only Indian company to achieve 100 percent sensitivity and specificity in ICMR evaluation. Hasmukh Rawal, director general of MyLab Discovery Solutions, said, “The kit for COVID-19 test has been developed in record time with the support of state and central government under Make in India. It has the approval of the Central Drug Standards Control Organization. "

Hasmukh Rawal also said that the support received from ICMR, NIV, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) and Central and State Governments Assessment Centers (CDSCO / FDA) in this difficult time is commendable.

At present, India is at the bottom of the list in terms of tests per million population. In this context, countries like South Korea and Singapore are ahead of India, who have succeeded in identifying and preventing cases of corona virus with the help of test kits.

Till now the Indian government has been asking for millions of testing kits from Germany so that medical examination of corona virus infected patients can be done. However, the dependence on foreign kits is a disturbing matter and the restrictions on air flights were hindering the way of importing test kits from abroad. But now with its approval, the picture of the corona virus infection will change.
